1. How do I go about ordering a
headboard/upholstered bed?
The first step to ordering you your dream headboard is to have a
design in mind. You may have seen a headboard on our website that you would like
replicated, perhaps seen a design in a magazine, or have a general idea of what
you would like.
The details needed in ordering a custom headboard are as follows:
1st. What size of headboard are you looking for: Single, Double, Queen or King
2nd. What style and design of headboard are looking for? Visit the following
link to view the varying styles and designs available, Headboards.
3rd. Do you have a fabric in mind? Such as a linen, velvet, micro-suede, other?
Once we've established the style, design and type of fabric you would like, the
next step would be to visit our studio to browse through our fabric sample books. We offer thousands
of great fabrics, at prices to meet anyone's budget. From linens to velvets,
microsuedes to genuine leather, you are sure to find the perfect fabric.
We will work one-on-one with you to design you your dream headboard!
Don't worry if you don't have all of the details worked out
quite yet, for we can go over each of these unique details in 30 minutes or
less, during a consultation.
An in-studio consultation is free, and can be arranged by
calling or emailing us for an appointment.
C.O.M. Fabrics (Customers Own materials)
are not accepted. All fabrics must be purchased through us.

2. How much does a custom headboard cost?
Our custom upholstered headboards start at just $500.00, plus
13% tax and the shipping (if required).
This price
includes the labor, materials, foam and fabric. The
fabric included in the package price is based on our "shop average",
and reflects a "solid" or "small pattern repeat" fabric.
The range of fabrics available within this price point includes (but is not
limited to), linens, velvets, ultra-suede, faux leathers and more.

3. Can you build an upholstered bed?
Yes. We offer upholstered side skirts (a.k.a. rails) with
almost any style of headboard, or any size of bed.

4. Do you offer platform beds?
No. Perhaps in the future.

5. How long does it take to make a new
headboard?
Typically speaking, once your headboard is booked with us, it
will take (on average) 2-3 weeks to produce.

6. Can I supply my own fabric?
No. AMP Upholstery Inc. does not accept any outside
fabrics. If you are interested in using our services, we have thousands of
fabrics samples to choose from at all price points. You are certain to
find something that fits within your budget.

7. Can I fit a headboard into my car/van?
Typically speaking, any size of Single (Twin) or
Double (Full) headboard will fit inside of a mini-van or some SUV's.
With respect to Queen sized headboards, if it is
under 54" tall, it will fit inside of a mini-van or most sport utility
vehicles. A headboard between 54" - 66" tall will fit inside of
a cargo van. Anything above 66" will need to be picked up in a pick-up
truck or cube van.
Most of the King sized headboards have to be
picked up in either a pick-up truck, cargo-van or larger.

8. What are the standard dimensions of a
headboard?
The standard headboard dimensions we offer are:
Single
sized headboard: 40" wide x 54" - 60" tall x 2" thick,
Double
sized headboard: 55" wide x 54" - 60" x 2" thick,
Queen
sized headboard: 62" wide x 54" - 60" x 2" thick,
King
sized headboard: 78" wide x 54" - 60" x 2" thick.
Because
we are a custom builder of fabric headboards, we are not limited to the above
dimensions. We can (for the most part) build any size of headboard.

9.
How do I install a wall mount headboard?
We have created a PDF
document that you can print out, which will aid you in installing (hanging) your
wall mount headboard. Please click this link.
10.
Do you offer wooden headboards?
No. We only offer
fabric upholstered headboards.
31. Do you offer footboards?
No. We only offer upholstered headboards, or fully
upholstered beds.

12. Do you ship out of Province?
Yes. We can ship any size headboard to any location in the
U.S.A. or within Canada.
We have found that the most economical sized headboard for
shipping is the "wall-mount". Within certain dimensional limits
(79" long x 5" thick x 32" wide), the "wall-mount"
headboard can be shipped easily and affordably using nationwide couriers.
The larger headboards, like a king sized wingback headboard, can
only be shipped using a freight forwarding company. This method of
transport is more costly and restrictive.
Please contact us for shipping and handling charges.

1. Is my furniture
worth "upholstering"?
If you feel that your furniture is well made, it fits in the area where you want
to use it, and (except for the fabric) you like it, then it is certainly worth
reupholstering! Your furniture will look and feel brand new after it is
reupholstered. I will honestly tell you if a piece is not worth reupholstering
because I don't want to be responsible for any job in which the final result is
not of the highest quality.
To learn more about whether or not having something upholstered
is worth it, please visit the following link for some details.
2.
What services do you offer?
-
Custom built fabric upholstered headboards,
-
Re-upholstery of most home furnishings,
-
Replacement foam,
-
New down cushions,
-
Scotch-Guarding.
Services not performed:
-
Working with leather on a large scale
(i.e. recovering a sofa).
-
Working with thin fabrics, such as certain
micro-suede fabrics, and all silks. Thin fabrics are difficult to work with
because staples are prone to piercing through the thin layer of fabric, and
the finished piping almost always looks sloppy and krinkled.
-
In-home repairs. Although we will not go
out on site, most repairs can be performed in the shop.
Simply call or email us with your project idea, and we will let
you know if we can accommodate your needs.
3. Do you offer replacement
foam?
Yes. We offer a wide range of foams, which vary in grade, density and price.
Please call or email us to make an appointment to visit our studio, where we can
guide you through the many types of foams.
4. Do you offer pick-up and
deliver?
Yes. Depending on your projects shipping needs, AMP Upholstery works with
several local movers who can handle all of our shipping requirements.
These services are chargeable, at a minimum rate of $45.00/trip.
Please note that the "typical" shipping rate is $85.00/trip. Rates
will vary depending on the distance travelled and the number of pieces being
moved.

5. Can you
restore or refinish my antique?
Yes. I work with qualified and experienced refinishers who can
restore, refresh, touch-up, or strip your antique down to bare wood and refinish
the piece to its former glory.
Simply contact me for details.
6. Do you have a selection of
fabrics I can choose from?
Yes. I carry thousands of samples in the showroom, and through my dealer network
have access to thousands more.
7. Can I take fabric samples
home with me?
Yes. Most of the fabric books in our library can be borrowed on a 2-3/day loan.
All that is required of you is an imprint of a major credit card, as security.
8. If I already have my own
fabric, can you still reupholster my furniture?
No. AMP Upholstery Inc. does not accept any outside fabrics. If you
are interested in using our services, we have thousands of fabrics samples to
choose from at all price points. You are certain to find something that
fits within your budget.
9. What should be included
as part of the service?
Typically speaking, an in-home estimate is the first step. In
some cases, people would rather send an email with details and a photo.
Regardless, the furnishing in question needs to be "seen" and a
written estimate given.
Once the customer has reviewed the estimate, and wishes to
proceed, it is time to pick the fabric. At that time, I can either bring fabric
samples to them, or request that they browse the many samples found in the
showroom.
Once the fabric has been chosen, a work-order will be written
up. At such time, a 40% deposit is asked for.
My service typically includes a complete or partial tear-down of
the existing coverings (down to bare frame if applicable), with the existing
spring structure remaining. If the springs are not in good condition, individual
components will be replaced and ONLY new parts and foams will be used in the
construction of your furnishing.
Once the job is complete, I usually ask that the client come
down to the shop and inspect the piece before it is shipped. Once it is
approved, payment is made in full, and the item is shipped.
10. How long would it
typically take to re-upholster my furnishing?
Production time varies depending on the size of the item, and the complexity of
the job. Though, in most cases, an average job requires 5-7 business days to
complete.
In the event that your item has any decorative wood elements
which are in need of touch-up or complete restoration, expect the production
time to be delayed anywhere from 2-7 days.
11. What are your hours?
Please visit the contact
page of this website, or call us for details.
12. Why is an appointment
needed to visit the showroom?
I ask that customers make an appointment to view the fabric
showroom so that they may look at the samples at there own leisure. This is far
better than feeling crowded or rushed by having multiple clients browsing the
samples at the same time.
13. What methods of payment
do you accept?
We accept VISA, Master Card, AMEX, Cash or Certified Cheque. We will only accept
personal cheques with a major credit card as security.
14. Is a down-payment
required?
Yes. Typically speaking, all fabrics are paid for upfront. In addition to
fabric, any special order supplies (legs, replacement foam, down cushions, etc)
require a minimum 40% deposit. This is applicable to all
customers.
15. Do
you have references?
Yes. I have several references from industry professionals (such
as well respected decorators and retailers) available upon request.
16. What sort of guarantee on
workmanship do you provide?
As of January 2009, unless otherwise specified, all written warranties are as
follows:
If their is a manufacturers
warranty on parts or materials, we will extend that warranty to our
customers. Details
C.O.M or "Customers Own Materials" are not
warranted.
17. Do you belong to any
Industry organizations?

18. Do you always "get
what you pay for"?
When deciding upon the right upholsterer for your project, getting several
estimates isn't a bad thing. BUT, don't be fooled by great
deals or to good to be true low prices.
Whether your having something re-upholstered or buying new, the old adage,
"you get what you pay for", really holds true.
Remember, your paying an upholsterer for his skill, time and materials. A great
deal usually means short cuts are made, inferior quality products and
materials are used, and small details overlooked.

19. Fabric is Fabric, Right?
Before jumping into any upholstery project, it is always best to
speak with your upholsterer first. Many a customer have found out the hard way,
that the fabric they've purchased was not appropriate for their application.
When upholstering any piece, there will be many steps, tools, and trade
materials involved. Depending on the piece of furniture (meaning it's style,
size, frame, structure, and a multitude of other aspects), only a professional
upholsterer can foresee what if any problems may lie ahead.
To ensure a flawless job, any client (DIY weekend-decorator or a professional)
should consult there upholsterer first. Otherwise, you could end up with a
re-upholstered furnishing which is lack-lustre and disappointing due to a poor
purchasing decision on your part.
